Today while listening to a song by Bowling for Soup called 1985, I began to really feel my age. During this song it of course references all the things from that era and of course I remember them all. I began thinking of bands and people from my youth. I fondly recalled the guitar gods of my generation. I then attempted to recall todays guitar gods. I could not think of a single one that I would call a "guitar god". I asked my 14 year old son if he had any guitar gods and his response was less than thrilling. All the people he mentioned were mediocore players in my opinion. There was no Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, etc.

What the hell ever happened to the guitar solo! I miss the whammy bar! I want to again watch the finger of fire from people who didn't just like guitar, but lived it. Musicians who became part of their instrument not just men who play it to keep a rhythm. Where have all the gods gone...

Of course this made me think of the many signs of old age...

Your potted plants are alive. And you can't smoke aone of them.
You keep more food than beer in the fridge.
6:00 AM is when you get up, not when you go to sleep.
You hear your favorite song on an elevator.
You're the one calling the police because those darn kidsnext door don't know how to turn down the stereo.
Hey! You kids! Off the lawn!
Snow sucks.
You don't know what time Taco Bell closes anymore.
Your car insurance goes down and your car paymentsgo up.
You feed your dog Science Diet instead of McDonald's.
You go to the drugstore for Ibuprofen and antacids, not condoms and pregnancy test kits.
"I just can't drink the way I used to," replaces "I'm nevergoing to drink that much again."
Over 90% of the time you spend in front of a computer is for real work.
You're asleep, but others worry that you're dead.
Your back goes out more than you do.
You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.
Your friend is dating someone half his/her age, and isn't breaking any laws.
People call at 9:00 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"
You answer a question with, "Because I said so."
You send money to PBS.
You know what the word "equity" means.
You can't remember the last time you laid on the floor to watch television.
You talk about "good grass" and you're referring to someone's lawn.

Stop looking for ones that don't apply to you....your old too!

FINAL REVIEW: Old age sucks!
